Nikon releases wedding photography Look Book revealing trend predictions from top photographers and influencers across Europe
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 30th May 2018: Following the creation of the Nikon European Wedding Collective in 2017, Nikon unveils its first wedding photography Look Book – an illustrative guide to classic, current and emerging trends – as predicted by Nikon’s panel of top wedding photographers and influencers from across Europe.
Inspired by their own portfolios and harnessing their years of experience, the Collective has forecast three new wedding photography trends for 2018, which it believes will be ever more apparent in the years to come. While shooting at the ‘golden hour’ and ‘editorial style’ will remain perennial classics, the Collective predicts three key trends that will become increasingly prevalent this season and beyond.
Fashion style
Inspired by high-end fashion editorial and couture wedding dress designs, the Collective anticipates that more couples will introduce a stronger styled look to their photography. Just as the bride wears a couture gown, she will also want to have a ‘couture’ style of photograph – pulling away from the more traditional and staged photographs which have been popular in the past.
Simplicity
From focussing on too many details, to excessive use of wedding props, some photography styles have been overdone, and the Collective expects this will result in a complete trend ‘reset’. In 2018, the Collective predicts that some couples will focus on getting back to basics, with a spotlight on timeless photographs that emphasise and exude simplicity, purity and sobriety.
Professionals only
In an age when social media is embedded in our daily routines, the Collective is already seeing couples requesting their guests to not snap and share during the marriage ceremony. In line with this, they foresee an even heavier reliance on the professional wedding photography, enabling the photographer to easily capture every moment and emotion more naturally – with the guests offering their complete and undivided attention.
The Nikon European Wedding Collective Look Book is illustrated with spectacular imagery from real weddings, all of which are captured on a Nikon camera with NIKKOR lenses. In addition to the future trends featured, the Collective also shared their favourite classic and current trends which they see from their clients, including ‘the creative use of flash’, ‘contrasting light’ and ‘reportage style’.
The images are also combined with practical tips and advice for aspiring and established wedding photographers, on how to recreate the image styles.
Commenting on her involvement in the creation of the Nikon European Wedding Collective Look Book, French wedding photographer, Chloé Lapeyssonnie said: “I’ve attended hundreds of weddings over the years and have witnessed how wedding photography continues to evolve first-hand. I hope the trends we’ve identified with Nikon will inspire photographers to keep challenging themselves and find new ways of shooting, as well as show aspiring photographers how a wedding can be captured in so many different ways. It’s been a joy to team up with the other Nikon photographers and influencers and bring all our experience and learnings together.”
Available online, the Look Book can be found on the Nikon Europe website and more information on the Nikon European Wedding Collective can be viewed here.
