Cannes Film Festival, 15th May At the opening gala of Solo: A Star Wars Story the sustainable force was with Thandie Newton who wore a stunning ‘Vivienne Westwood for The GCC’ gown. Thandie completed her look with Chopard jewellery, the Maison is known for its Journey to Sustainable Luxury.
This remarkable GCC piece has been hand-crafted in Westwood’s London atelier, with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified ‘peau de soie’ from Taroni, the luxury Italian silk producer*. The stunning print has been created especially as a homage to Thandie’s first appearance in the motion-picture franchise. It features images of her personal Star Wars figurine collection, which photographed by Christian Hogstedt and layered over the iconic Vivienne Westwood Absence of Roses print. The gown is finished with details of gold, jet black and iridescent upcycled Swarovski crystals.
Thandie Newton also wore jewellery by Chopard. Earlier this year, the iconic Swiss jewellery and watch house unveiled the achievement of a 100% ethical gold supply chain as part of its program The Journey for Sustainable Luxury.

The programme has had a starring role at Cannes 2018, beginning with Cate Blanchett rewearing an iconic Armani gown.
